Item of the Week: Almonds

Almonds are the most consumed tree nut and packed with vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber.

Whether you eat them raw, chop and add them to baked goods, make them into almond butter or milk, or slice and sprinkle them over salads, almonds can add nutritional benefits to many snacks and meals.

Some of the health benefits of this popular nut include reducing risk of heart disease, lowering risk of weight gain, and decreasing rising in blood sugar (learn more).

Almonds are native to central and southwest Asia and were introduced to California in the 1840’s.  They grow in shells on trees that thrive in areas with mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers in full sun (learn more).

At Core Goods, we sell raw, US grown almonds, which are unsalted and unroasted. Our almonds are not organic, but we can special order organic almonds for customers if interested.

We’ve shared an almond butter recipe below, but if you don’t want to make your own, we have almond butter for sale, too.
