Recipe: Stovetop Popcorn

Ditch the bagged popcorn and make this stovetop popcorn! Easy to cook with just two ingredients–popcorn and oil.

Popcorn is surprisingly simple to make at home. Bagged popcorn often comes with artificial flavoring and chemicals, plus the bag creates waste. With just popcorn kernels, oil, and a large pot, you can make it without the bag.

We have made this popcorn with both coconut and avocado oil and have not tried any other oils. If you want to experiment with oils, be cautious of using oils with low smoking points, such as extra virgin olive oil (learn more about oil smoking points).

You can top this popcorn with a variety of different seasonings and spices. Our favorite is nutritional yeast and salt, or a seasoning blend.
